Moving the Malt

Moving the Malt

The malt and hops from the lovely people at Crisps and Charles Faram were delivered last week.

Having had the freezer delivered last week I quickly moved the hops upstairs into the freezer. But the problem still stood how was I going to get a tonne and a bit of malt upstairs. The answer was call in the troops, thank you to Bethany, Darci, Paul, Tom 1 and Tom 2, for coming down on Saturday and helping shift it all upstairs.

Here it is all neatly stacked up.

Weekend Works

Weekend Works

We took the long weekend and got a few things done down at Beerblefish HQ, we have painted the walls, swept and mopped the floors, made 4 visits to IKEA, and a few more to Tesco. We now have a set of mugs for tea, a kettle to make tea, seats to sit in while thinking and drinking the tea, and a table to place out biscuits and cups on during the periods of thinking in between the drinking of tea.

During the weekend: first meal in the brewery

After the weekend (we also have a table between the benches now):

Beerblefish At MarketInvoice

Beerblefish At MarketInvoice

Today we had another milestone our first bottle order delivered to the great people down at MarketInvoice in Holborn. We took them Bloodletter – Red IPA, Holy Smoke – Single Hop Pale, and Joker!  – Single Hop Pale. Also, a quick mention of David’s fantastic waist coat. The reception the beers got was excellent, with people returning to the fridge multiple times until it was all consumed and we all went home happy.

First Pint

First Pint

This was a very exciting day, today I was able to order my beer in a pub. I had dreamed of this day ever since the first home brew in Manchester. As you can see I was too excited and had had a bit before saving the moment for posterity. My first pint of Bloodletter IPA went down very well.

It was a wonderful evening with many great comments from customers, friends and family.

Thank-you all for helping make this possible.

Admiral’s Arch Ale

Admiral’s Arch Ale

The admiral hops finally showed up. This evening we were down at UBrew running up a test batch of Single Variety Admiral Ale. I have been meaning to do a batch with Admiral for ages, as a British hop with a pungent orange aroma, I want to see how it compares to the citrus notes of Citra and Amarillo.

The bowl of hops you see in the picture above had an exceeding delicious orange aroma, with light herbal tones. I can’t wait to see what it comes out like. It is 2-3 weeks till I can, and I will keep you posted.
