LIMITED EDITION HOPPED GIN
Distilled in the autumn of 2019, our very first foray into spirits was a run of just 481 bottles of Hopped Gin – a very limited edition indeed.
Our Limited Edition Hopped Gin ticked all the boxes to be a London Dry Gin, but while it retained its dominant juniper flavour, balanced by a selection of other botanicals, the addition of hops gave it a subtle citrus finish and a rounded mouthfeel that was unique among gins.
Limited Edition Hopped Gin has now sold out…. but in January 2021, we launched our Second Edition Hopped Gin – another very limited run, this time using hops we found growing up the brewery gates. These hops contribute a similar mouthfeel to the first edition, but are spicier and less citrusy in flavour.
And then… in November 2021, we launched the Third Edition, this time with hops from a garden in Plumstead. This one is zesty with a hint of cucumber on the finish – delicious!

LOCALLY-SOURCED HOPS
The hops for our Limited Edition Hopped Gin came from self-seeded plants growing in a pub garden in Walthamstow, North London. While it wouldn’t be quite right to say they were wild, we don’t know exactly what variety they are – our best guess, based on the flavour and aroma, is that they belong to the Goldings family.
The hops in Second Edition Hopped Gin were growing up the brewery gates – we knew there were plants in the area, but this was the first time we’d seen any of them produce cones. The spicy flavour and aroma makes us think they are a Fuggles variety.
The hops in Third Edition Hopped Gin were growing in the garden of a neighbour of our General Manager, Glenn’s brother-in-law in Plumstead, south London – not quite so local, but still sourced outside of the commercial hop system. These hops provide hints of lime and lemon zest and a cucumber note in the finish.
We think that the smooth, rounded mouthfeel is created by the oils that come out of the hops in distillation – there are none of the harsh edges that are often found in other gins.

CAREFULLY SELECTED BOTANICALS
In addition to the local hops, our Second Edition Hopped Gin contains a delicately balanced combination of juniper, lemon peel, chamomile flowers, mint, coriander, cardamom, angelica and orris root, creating a flavour and aroma that are subtle yet distinctive.

HOW TO SERVE
Our Hopped Gin is so smooth that it can be enjoyed on its own or served over ice. Or, if you prefer, pair it with a good quality plain or elderflower tonic, or try one of our gin cocktail recipes!

A WORLD CLASS GIN
In March 2020, Limited Edition Hopped Gin was awarded a Silver Medal at the renowned San Francisco World Spirits Competition – proving it really is a World Class Gin. We added to this accolade with a 1 star award in the Great Taste Awards in September 2020.
